That moment, two more guards burst into the room. They completely blocked the
exit out of the room. These two were also holding a prisoner, but they held
him high off the ground. It seemed like putting him down would mean trouble.
The cat leaned forward to examine this new prisoner and was fascinated by his sharp features. He looked human, but was the size of a mouse. He had a very defined shape, pointed ears on the side of his head, dark fuzzy hair, and reflective black eyes. She wondered how a devilishly handsome mouse like that could have come to her domain. The cat stared closer at the hapless captive and said, "Oh! Its an ugly one this time." She tried to taunt him, but it didn't work. He just crossed his arms and pulled the two guards closer together. The little mouse-sized person's name was Isagi Paltiel. Isagi was a rebel from my dimension, who was exiled to planet Earth. He was sent there because the ruler of his world couldn't get rid of him in any permanent fashion. Isagi spoke to the cat, in a way that only a person who wouldn't feel a building being dropped on him could say. He threatened, "Release me, or I will destroy your city." The cat-thing responded with, "Send them both to the Beast!" Without hesitating, the quartet of guards ran out of the room and threw their prisoners into a huge arena. Isagi saw that Gadget wasn't conscious yet, so he decided to protect her until she came to. He looked around to see where any trouble might come from. He didn't want to be surprised by the Beast. Behind him was a pair of giant wooden doors. They looked like the doors to the entrance of the royal chamber, but these had huge claw marks on them. Above where he stood was a royal box. The cat-thing and a tall mouse in flowing red robes were in it. They looked down on their guests with anticipation. Isagi spun around, his peripheral vision had caught movement on the other side of the arena. A huge iron gate was being raised a few feet away. 'It must be over a hundred feet tall,' Isagi thought to himself. He didn't realize that the magic used to banish him also shrunk him. When the portcullis stopped moving, Isagi saw that there was a dark cave behind it. Something big was moving inside that cave. A huge webbed foot emerged from the cave. It was green with brightly colored dots and had ivory talons on its toes. A mutant frog paced out of the cave. It had a thick tuft of orange fur on its head, and a mouth that could swallow an elephant whole. The Beast scanned the arena for prey, and barely noticed the small couple. A mad hungered look was etched on its face. Isagi tried to use his native powers. He wanted to grow to his full size, to wrestle the frog-thing down, but his powers didn't respond. The Beast paced closer and lashed out its ring-striped tongue, wrapping it around the now-conscious Gadget. |
