The little Anterran

It started the day the gods became bored with their jobs. Zeus was tiring of throwing lightning bolts at insignificant mortals, and starting wars. The Mighty Hercules had defeated every monster in the Universe, making his greatest challenges chess matches with Apollo. Even Mr. Rogers (a god?) was getting bored of twisting the minds of innocent children while talking to hand puppets.

Zeus called for a great meeting in which all the gods and their servants would be present. Only four entities showed up. Zeus, Apollo, and Hercules were there. Pan arrived only for the comic relief he would cause. They decided to make a new Universe, which they would see over, and ignore the one which Earth was part of.

For a divine being, creating a universe from scratch is not an easy deal. For a group of them, most with conflicting personalities, it's almost impossible.

Pan and Hercules caused the most trouble. Whenever Zeus finished making a planet, and Apollo placed it within the new cosmos, Hercules and Pan would destroy it arguing over where to put mountain ranges and forests. A few planets and solar systems were saved from this godly wrath, but over a million were destroyed in the process of creation.

Apollo, the smart one among the quartet, recognized what was going to happen with his divine intuition (or just plain old common sense, either way you look at it). Because he knew that there was no way that the gods could rule over the new worlds without destroying them, Apollo suggested that a caretaker be put in control of the new Universe, and oversee its growth until the gods were ready to take claim of it and rule it.
