Xoxide The order was simple: Two mounting adapters for Koolance waterblocks. Initially, the order was shipped next day and received after two business days. Unfortunately, both adapters were missing tension springs. A word of explanation - mounting a waterblock without tensions springs means a very high likelyhood that the CPU will be crushed. That's a bad thing. After reading the other reviews on resellerratings.com, I decided to not even attempt Email contact with this reseller. So, I called them the next day. Their shipping department contact Herman confirmed that none of the adapters in stock had mounting springs. He offered me either a full refund, or asked if I could wait about two weeks for the springs to be shipped from Koolance. I chose the latter. I called back three weeks later to follow up, and was asked to call back later that week. Finally, one month after the original problem was reported, without receiving any responses by the reseller, I called again. This time I was told by Rich that I would receive a call back the next day. I asked Rich if he could check with the warehouse, to verify that the tension springs were included, just in case, but didn't receive a response. Since Xoxide didn't send an Email or call back, I did. I was told that a replacement order was input the previous day, and that I should have received a confirmation Email - which I didn't. Rich went on to say that he was having problems with the automatic Email confirmation system and would have another Email sent. One day later, I did receive an Email - that an order shipped that same day. I received the order within two business days, as expected, but there were two problems. Only one adapter was shipped, and it was missing the tension springs. The merry-go-round turned, and I called back again. Rich in shipping provided two RMA #s to send the three incomplete adapter sets back. Rich also verbally gave a different address to send the items back to than what was written in the Emailed RMA confirmations. Since I live nearby, I drove to this other address - the building was under construction, and no people were inside during a normal business hours. So I drove to the address listed in the RMA confirmation Email where was I able to find a live body. A gentleman there politely said that he'd pass the incomplete adapter sets on to the "RMA Team". My feeling and opinion is that Xoxide has undergone a large, detrimental change over the past six months. My previous purchases from them were never even the slightest bit imperfect. Because of the lack of communication, verbally-given address not matching written address, no one present at the verbally-given address, and the inability to resolve the problem, I would not purchase again from this reseller. |

- The Aspire X-QPACK-AL/420's power supply, while labelled as being 420 watts, is actually considerably lower than 420 watts. Expect to replace it with a different power supply. If a standard size ATX power supply is installed in the case, a standard-length optical drive can not fit in the top 5¼" bay. Lite-On's shorter length optical drives will fit according to a few people. N.B. Lite-On unit quality is terrible. Use a laptop drive in a 5 ¼" adapter bay instead. | ||||||||||||||||||

- Research the MSI Geminium-GO
upgradeable graphics card. An updated version of the card was displayed at Computex 2006 on 6/8/2006. The length of the card was shortened by placing one MXM slot on the back of the PCB. Per glossy materials: "Performance is directly dependent on the video chip modules installed onto the board." and "Power use and fan noise are diminished when compared to dedicated "desktop" video cards when the same video chipset." The board, in its current state, may be too long to physically fit inside of a Micro-ATX case. MSI has a reputation for demonstrating products that will never be sold to customers. |

firewall IP Cop has a built-in DHCP server that can serve: 1) static IP addresses based upon the MAC of the client 2) a boot image via DHCP 3) It does not have built-in support for an LCD status display, but a third party Linux plugin named LCDProc provides this LCDProc VFD interface NetLCDClient plugin for LCDProc CheckConnect IPCOP network reset script cron instructions 4) Support for Crystalfontz LCDs USB models I will need to update the 'CFontzPacket_output()' function in CFontzPacket.c to add side LED intensity control. Binary-only (ON/OFF) control of the Red & Green LEDs is already supported via an 8-bit integer First 4 LOW bits are the green LEDs, and the last 4 HIGH bits are the red LEDs E.G. 0x1016 = 000100002 LED 0 Red E.G. 0x0116 = 000000012 LED 0 Green E.G. 0x2216 = 001000102 LED 1 Yellow E.G. 0xDD16 = 110111012 LED 0 Yellow LED 1 Unlit LED 2 Yellow LED 3 Yellow Page 39 in the manual describes how to modify PWM intensity for the LEDs Notes: LED Hardware uses a 100 Hz PWM signal to control LED intensity. I will use 3 bits to set intensity. 000: Off - 0% (0x0) 001: 14% lit (0xE) 010: 28% lit (0x1C) 011: 43% lit (0x2B) 100: 57% lit (0x39) 101: 71% lit (0x47) 110: 86% lit (0x56) 111: On - 100% (0x64) A 24-bit wide bitfield to control all 4 LEDs would work best; 6 bits per LED - the low bits control green intensity and the high bits select red intensity It will convert Integer data to the bitfield E.G. 1677721510 = 2 ^ 24 - 110 = 1111111111111111111111112 = 0xFFFFFF16: All 4 LEDs lit Yellow E.G. 0: All LEDs off Prefix the data, using either a Decimal (base 10) or a Hexidecimal (base 16) number, with an negative sign ( - ) to indicate the alternate output format? Data format:
LED Unlit [000 000]: Interface not physically available LED Red [111 000]: Interface available, but not physically connected LED Orange [111 010]: Interface available, physical connection works, but not configured (includes no IP address assignment failure, & DHCP failure) LED Yellow [111 111]: Interface available, physical connection works, configured, but uplink router reports blocked LED Green [000 111]: Interface available, physical connection works, configured, uplink router works LED Blinking Green [000 000 & 111 000]: Activity 5) IP Cop does not have built-in support for status LEDs, but a third party Linux utility named CIFLED provides this |
