The little Anterran

First Story

Isagi had an outburst, for the second time in his life, when he saw that his companion was about to be eaten. It hurt him when he lost his friends to the magic user back on his homeworld. He was powerless to help them. Now he was going to lose another person, and he couldn't do anything about it.

Anger welled up inside of him. The frustration of being in a helpless state weakened the banishment spell that took away his powers. Isagi's forearms began to glow with luminous energy.

Isagi was drawing power out of his lifeforce. Once again, he was linked with the Otherworld dimension. Fists clenched, he snapped his arms out at the Beast and spread his fingers. The energy on his arms flew off as a blue field of concussive force.

It looked like a cone of glowing energy, with its tip emanating from Isagi's wrists. When the Beast saw the cone of blue light it panicked, releasing Gadget from its striped tongue. The field hit the Beast and slammed it into the side of the arena, knocking it unconscious.

Isagi walked over to Gadget and helped her off the ground. Then he turned to the wooden gate and launched a blast of force at it. Colorful sparkles drifted off the doors. They weren't even scratched.

Isagi looked up into the royal box and noticed the red-robed mouse was making strange motions with his arms. Then he realized a magical field was protecting the gate. The mouse standing next to the cat-creature was in fact a magic user, and he had cast a spell that prevented Isagi and Gadget from escaping.

The mage had been thinking about his queen. He remembered how the alien mouse promised to destroy her city. 'I must protect my queen and destroy this threat to her life,' thought the mouse as he teleported onto the battlefield below.

Isagi sensed the mage's intentions (he wanted to annihilate them) and telepathically offered him an alternative,

'Release the magic on the doors, and let us leave in peace, or die with your city.'

"You can leave in pieces!" was the mouse's response, as he gathered magical energies to cast a spell. Isagi formed concentrated energy on his hands, preparing for another blast of force.
